helo all !! well i am new in the forum and i am very happy that it exist. resently i started ccna lessons and i have a little problem to find a right simulator to do my job , i tried to install many times boson in vista and in xp but every time i got a problem with it , it was not run properly . my question is where can find the one that was tested and run properly ???????? PLEASE HELP

With regards to simulators we don't advocate the use of them as they will always only allow a subset of the the commands a normal router would. The simulator is trying to "simulate" the IOS software in an application that is meant to run on a Windows platform and as such only specific commands are programmed to work based on the requirements of the task.Essentially you have 2 options available as I see it :-1. Either rent or buy some kit, doesn't have to be expensive $100 maybe for a couple of routers. You can rent our racks for as little as $2 an hour.2. You can look into using something called Dynamips. This emulates the hardware, not the IOS which is the key difference. There are plenty of pages around on Dynamips so I won't go into detail but it might be beyond the scope of a CCNA, aimed more towards the CCNP/CCIE person who is already comfortable with hardware platforms.

I would thoroughly recommend checking out GNS, which runs on top of Dynamips that Stuart mentioned. Essentially a GUI that sits on top of it.You do need to have some IOS images though to run it.Equipment is so cheap on ebay that it's well worth getting used to using it as well. No emulator/simulator can replace it because you'll get out into the real world with no idea about the actual hardware.Would recommend networksinc racks as well.

2 sims hich I think i handled well. Quite a few subnetting questions, range, last address type questions. A few VTP questions. Couldn't really remember much else when I came out. Couldn't really remember any NAT questions other than the sim when I came out. TBH there is so much pressure and quite a bit going on in your head when you come out it sort of blanks on you.Resiting on Monday morning and feel much more comfortable now with lots more practice questions under my belt. I'll let you know how I get on.
